Practicing Anti-Racism and Diversity in Art and Non-profit Organizations
Even though art, charity, and altruism can come from an activist-minded place, organization often struggle to root out and eliminate the practices, ideologies, and structures that are unwittingly informed by white supremacist, heteronormative, hegemonic sociopolitical practices. In this workshop, your organization will be asked to confront their own implicit biases, dispose of their institutionally racist modi, and be taught how to practice and incorporate anti-racism into their work and art. The workshop includes:
- An evaluation of your organization or production both for successful anti-racism praxis as well as structures or motifs of oppression, racism, gender discrimination, and all other implicit bias
- A workshop in which participants confront their individual implicit bias
- A seminar on productive anti-oppression praxis and how to implement it from multiple qualified guest speakers.
- A facilitated talk-back
