Now, In Color!

Now, in Color! is a media project celebrating queer love in 2022, centering all the iterations we don't usually get to see: BIPOC love, femme love, trans love, nb love, poly love, and so many more. The piece consists of two components: a performance piece by Nia Ashley and an interview series with a diverse array of LGTBQIA2S+ couples discussing all the beautiful ways queer love manifests.

Episode 1: The Red Interview

Featuring: Trevania Layne (she/her) and Lisa Janae (they/she)

What does queer love mean to you?

“Freedom and inclusion is what it brings to mind. Being able to exist fully in a way that heteronormativity could never and on a far deeper level. To me Queer love means the truest form of love.”

Episode 4: The Green Interview

Featuring Luna (they/them) and Omari (they/them)

What does queer love mean to you?

Queer love is safe and beautiful. It is political and personal and healing.

Bonus Episode!

Featuring Kearah-Armonie (they/them)

What does queer love mean to you?

To me, Queer love is love. In its true essence, its purest form. Queer love is Love despite colonialism- and so many -isms. Beyond gender “norms” and the traditional cis/het ways we’ve been taught love only exists.

Episode 2: The Orange Interview

Featuring Harvey (they/them) and Fresa (she/her)

What does queer love mean to you?

Queer love means love that is “deviant” in any way from the norm - being one to one cis and heterosexual. But queer love is also synonymous in my mind with beautiful love, freedom to love, love is love and true love in my case.

Episode 5: The Blue Interview

Featuring David (he/him) and Baphomet (he/him)

What does queer love mean to you?

It means two people loving each other despite society telling them it's somehow wrong or weird. And supporting each other, even if others don't.

Episode 3: The Yellow Interview

Featuring Gabby (she/her) and Sylvy (she/her)

What does queer love mean to you?

Loving my girl and working through shit together!!! Being able to laugh and observe society in a similar way.

Episode 6: The Purple Interview

Featuring Jalese (she/her) and Nyla (she/her)

What does queer love mean to you?

Love that confuses the people who conform to societal standards. Whether it’s the way y’all dress, whether y’all are the same gender or identify as a non binary. It may include the way y’all go about your love . You may be perceived as odd. That’s queer love.
